DSEDJ | Sufficient Vacancies in Local Universities
Macau's Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) guarantees that there are sufficient vacancies in local universities for the approximately four thousand students preparing to enter higher education this year. The DSEDJ deputy director, Teng Sio Hong, provided this assurance in response to concerns raised by Labor Deputy Lam Lon Wai regarding a possible increase in demand due to the pandemic. Sio Hong assured that Macau's ten higher education institutions, including public ones, have the capacity to accommodate local students, even in the face of a potential increase in demand for studies in the region. Although the average number of students completing complementary secondary education is four thousand annually, with half choosing Macau, the DSEDJ estimates a decrease in internal demand in the coming years. Additionally, measures have been implemented to allow the results of Macau's unified examination to be accepted by institutions in mainland China, Taiwan, and Portugal, expanding options for students.

International Recognition of Macau's Unified Examination
Additionally, Teng Sio Hong mentioned that, in recent years, measures have been implemented to allow the acceptance of local unified examination results in higher education institutions in mainland China, Taiwan, and Portugal. This initiative aims to provide more options for students who wish to pursue their studies outside Macau.
