Chinese Jincheng Guo Wins Gold at Paralympic World Championships with Unique Technique

Chinese swimmer Jincheng Guo won the gold medal in the 50m freestyle S5 class at the Paralympic World Championships in Singapore, repeating his signature 'air bubble' technique. He completed the race in 30.11 seconds, surpassing Ukrainian Artem Oliinyk (31.42s) and Brazilian Samuel Oliveira (31.67s).

Coach Alex Pussieldi Explains Guo's Innovative Technique

As explained by Coach Alex Pussieldi in 2024, 'He swims exactly on the surface line, so he doesn't have the surface break like others; the only thing that breaks his surface is the splash from his legs. Thus, he has no frontal resistance in relation to the swim, covering the entire swim underwater.'

Guo's History of Success in Paris and Peculiar Style

At Paris-2024, Guo won multiple golds (50m freestyle, 50m butterfly, relays) and silvers (100m freestyle, 50m backstroke), in addition to breaking records in the 50m butterfly (30.28s) and 50m freestyle (29.33s). He is also notable for swimming without a cap or special suits, using only swim trunks.
